Richard Kalapas (Ineos Grenadiers) returned to racing at the Tour de Pollogne on Saturday.
"I still have to wait a bit, but there will be some news soon," Kalapas, whose contract with Ineos Grenadiers ends this December, told Cycling News before the start of the first stage of the Tour de Pollogne.
Kalapas' future is one of the biggest transfer issues for the 2023 season.
Kalapas has been rumored to be with various teams, but nothing has been finalized yet, and remaining with Ineos Grenadiers is still a viable option, at least on paper.
As for his current condition, he admitted to Cycling News that he will take on his second Grand Tour of the season, the Vuelta a España, and will finish in the top three for at least the second time in three events.
"I'm going to the Vuelta a España directly after here [in Pologne]. It's a great opportunity to try to get on the podium and I want to make the most of it."
First, the Tour de Pollogne, but Carapas has bitter memories: in 2020, he took the lead in the race and won a stage, only to crash the next day, abandoning the race and losing the lead.
"There are some tough stages that will be challenging," Karapas said. The "big goal is the Vuelta this fall, but we have a strong team here and our form is very good.
Calapaz, who finished second in this spring's Giro d'Italia, has the strongest squad for the week's stage races, with young riders Ethan Hayter, Magnus Sheffield, and Ben Truett, and experienced sprinter Elia Viviani They will be competing in the Tour de Pollogne. However, local star Michal Kwiatkowski will not participate as previously expected, as he suffered a concussion in a training crash and will need to rest.
