Annemiek van Vleuten's unbeatable strength in the Tour de France Femmes Avec Twift was further demonstrated when second-place finisher Demi Vollaring (SD Worx) claimed to be in "the best shape of her life," but was unable to surpass the winner of the yellow jersey Even more revealing.

Vollering has spent most of the season preparing for the Tour de France, finishing second behind Van Vleuten on stages 7 and 8. Despite missing out on the win, the SD Walks rider believes he could not have done better.

"I broke all my records yesterday.

Although Vollering was unable to match Van Vleuten at crucial moments in the closing stages, he had a balanced view of how the race unfolded on Sunday evening.

"Of course I wanted to be closer to her. But I was proud of my run, because it's something I can't control.

Despite the yellow jersey being too big a goal, Volering believes that SD Volks has much to be happy about after the Tour de France Femme.

Volering will take the polka-dot jersey as best climber after defending his class lead on Sunday.

"I came here with a goal and did my best every day. I think we had a really good tour with the team." Lotte finished third twice and even had a day with the green jersey on her back. So I think the whole team did a really good job."

Aside from the overall standings, jerseys, and stage wins, the most emotional thing for Vollering was being able to share his accomplishments with his family, especially his father.

"I was really happy that my family was here. They don't come to many of my races, but it means so much to me to have them here for such a great race. I'm really family oriented, so I really like being with my family."

"My dad was going through a little bit of a tough time and I really wanted to make him proud. And I was able to do that."
