BikeExchange-Jayco Signs Italian Champion Filippo Zana

Italian champion Filippo Zana has signed a three-year contract with the team and will join BikeExchange-Jayco in 2023. He joins from Bardiani-CSF-Faizanè, where he spent the first three seasons of his professional career.

Zana had a strong season in 2022, winning the Italian road race title in Alberobello just after winning the overall at the Adriatica Ionica race. in 2021, he won the Sazuka Tour and the Course de la Paix, and was third overall at the Tour de l'Avenir He finished third overall.

"It is always special to have a national champion on the team and we are delighted to welcome Filippo next season," said Bike Exchange Jayco General Manager Brent Copeland. [He is only 23 years old, but he already has a lot of experience and is definitely a rider we have been interested in for some time.

Zana, who hails from Piovenet-Rocchette near Vincenza, raced for the Trevigiani-Continental team before turning pro with Bardiani-CSF-Feizane in 2020. He has finished all three seasons of the Giro d'Italia so far.

"There is a lot of emotion and a lot of motivation to train better and better, from Brent to all the staff I have talked to, to live up to the trust that Team Bike Exchange Jayco has given me and to keep improving," Zana said. 'We have a lot of goals and we will work hard to achieve them.'

BikeExchange-Jayco has already signed Eddie Dunbar and Chris Harper to 2023 contracts, while Simon Yates and Michael Matthews have agreed to contract extensions with the Australian team.

"We are continuing to grow and strengthen our team for the Grand Tour and Filippo will play a big part in that. Filippo will play a big part in that," Copeland said."
