Following his crash and subsequent abandonment at last month's Tour de France, Primoš Roglic returned to training two weeks after the Vuelta a España.
The Slovenian has won the Spanish Grand Tour three years in a row, but the possibility of a fourth title and even an actual race remains up in the air.
The Vuelta begins on August 19 in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and the Jumbo-Visma team has said that Roglic's participation is undecided.
The team confirmed to Cycling News that they will assess Roglic's recovery before making a decision about his participation in the Vuelta, saying, "No decision has been made yet. [We] are waiting to see how and how fast Primoš recovers."
News of Roglic's condition had been lost since he retired before stage 15 of the Tour de France three weeks ago. He crashed heavily on the cobbled fifth stage, dislocating his shoulder before riding to the finish.
He continued to race for another nine days, helping his Jumbo-Visma teammate Jonas Vingegaard win the overall.
Four days later, however, Jumbo-Visma announced before the Vuelta that Roglic would concentrate on recovering from injuries sustained in the crash.
A few days earlier, he told reporters that he was suffering from severe back pain after the crash.
On Thursday, he broke his silence and took to Instagram, flexing his biceps in a photo taken while training near his home in Monaco.
"A classic good morning photo when I finally get back on the road," Logriss wrote.
Logreisch's participation in the Vuelta will depend on how he handles the next few days of training rides.
When he is fit, he will lead the Jumbo-Visma team, which includes Sepp Kuss, Rohan Dennis, and Roberto Gesink. He is Simon Yates (BikeExchange-Jayco), Richard Kalapas (Ineos Grenadiers), Miguel Angel Lopez (Astana Qazaqstan), Remco Evenpole (QuickStep-AlphaVinyl), Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates), Mikel Landa (Bahrain Victorious), and Giro d'Italia champion Jai Hindley (Bora-Hansgrohe) will face competition for the overall title.
