Lotto Soudal acquires Guarnieri, strengthening the lead-outs of Euan and De Lier.

Lot Soudal has acquired experienced lead-out man Jacopo Guarnieri from Groupama-FDJ to bolster support for 2023 sprinter Caleb Yuan and Arnaud De Lier.

The 34-year-old Italian has played a key role in Arnaud Desmarais' success in recent years and is widely respected in peloton circles. He wore a wristband in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community at the Giro d'Italia's Grande Partenza in Hungary.

Guarnieri's move to Lotto Soudal is part of an ongoing process to improve the Belgian team's sprint train. In contrast, Groupama FDJ is rebuilding its sprint leadout by promoting eight players from its under-23 development team for 2023. His signing is the latest in a number of player transfers for 2023.

"I am honored by Lot Doustney's interest, and I am looking forward to working with him.

"This team has a great history of sprinters and lead-out trains. The team is totally focused on winning the group sprint and both Caleb Yuan and Arnaud Des Liers are really fast. I've already had a good talk with Caleb Yuan and I'm looking forward to the next two seasons."

"Leading out is not just about power and luck," explained Guarnieri.

"In my previous team, I was also in charge of organizing the sprint trains. The feeling of everyone involved in the train is important. Of course, there are already many strong riders, but I want to bring something extra to this team with my experience."

Lotto Soudal is involved in the fight to avoid relegation, but if the team is relegated to a professional team, both Euan and De Lier will remain with the team. Despite the risk of relegation, team manager John Lelangue continues to look toward the future.

"When you work on a sprint train you have to constantly look for improvements. The work never ends.

"Caleb Yuan has the fastest sprinter in the peloton, but Arnaud de Lee proved this year that he deserves to be surrounded by strong riders who know how to lead sprinters. Therefore, adding experience and fast legs to the sprint train is crucial.
